“Moove Over Beethoven”

Black and White quilt“Moove Over Beethoven” is one of my first—and favorite— quilts. Our oldest son, Aaron is a very talented musician who also happens to be color-blind.  I collected black & white music fabric for quite awhile before starting this quilt. I had him pick out colors that looked good to him for the border. I love his selections!

“Monterey Blues”

This is my second “California Tree” quilt. The first is Monterey Sunset.

The background consists of rectangles fused onto a base fabric. The tree is painted on using a hand-cut stencil. (Cutting the stencil was such a pain, I decided I wanted to use it again!)

The stencil is from an original photo by Melody Randol.

“Prelude to Fall”

“Prelude to Fall” was created from a photo my husband took of a Virginia Creeper vine growing on our front porch. I love the intensity of the colors!

I made this quilt using Melody Randol‘s landscape technique, and am really happy with the results!

“Kevin’s Mountain”

Our former neighbor, Kevin Landolt, was an avid mountain, rock & ice climber, who also loved to paint.  He succumbed to leukemia in March 2013.  He was 24-years-old and an only child.  My friend/neighbor Laurel and I found pictures of some of his paintings posted on his blog.  We created this art quilt from one of his paintings as a gift to his parents, who displayed it at his memorial service.

“Amelia’s Butterflies”

Here’s another butterfly quilt–this one for our youngest grandbaby (so far! :)), Amelia June.  It was presented to her on her 1st birthday!

This is the first quilt I quilted on my Sweet Sixteen.  It was SO much easier than using my little Bernina!

The pattern is from Jan Mullen’s book Cut-Loose Quilts.

“Jaxson’s Cars” with Jaxson!

Jaxson's Cars

I presented “Jaxson’s Cars” on Thanksgiving 2013 and thought I was done making grandbaby quilts for awhile.  That evening, our youngest son and his wife announced they were expecting!  One more to go!!

Pattern idea from Jan Mullen’s Cut-Loose Quilts.

“Hannah’s Butterflies”

“Hannah’s Butterflies” was made for our 2nd grandchild and given to her on her 5th birthday.  (When I asked her what her favorite color was she said, “Bee-luuuuu!”)

The pattern is from Jan Mullen’s book Cut-Loose Quilts.

“Monterey Sunset”

Monterey Sunset

“Monterey Sunset” was created in Melody Randol’s “Stencils & Sponges” workshop.

The tree is Melody’s photograph which she printed onto freezer paper.  We (students) cut out the stencils and ironed them onto our base quilt, then painted the tree and removed the stencil.  It was finished with free-motion zigzag quilting.  Such a fun workshop, but it’s really hard to paint onto a quilt the first time!
